U16 Girls
A huge weekend of Grand Finals kicked off with U16 Girls playing the top of the table Scots team. The girls worked hard, but weren’t able to bring home the win. Here is the team from after their Preliminary Final result:

A great effort from the team to get through to the Grand Final and present for Norths!
U14 Girls
A very bright and early game for the U14 Girls kicking off at 8am on Saturday morning. With a season of hard fought games against Falcons, this was a difficult game to pick a winner for. The two teams worked incredibly hard for the whole 4 quarters, with the scores level at the end. From here, the teams went into the 8 second play off – 1 v 1 player vs keeper. The Norths girls prevailed with goal keeper Bec having an absolute ripper. Congratulations to Belle Boyd winning best on ground. Final result Norths 3-2.

U12 Girls
The U12 Girls played next, and they had a very tough game against United. The United team were the top team throughout the season and would be very tough to be beat. While gallant during the game, sadly our Norths girls went down 6-0 eventually. A wonderful effort and a great little team with some real talent coming up through the ranks.

U12 Boys
Another challenge for the Norths kids in this game, and another one against Wodonga. The U12 Boys have improved immensely throughout the year and they were prepped and ready to roll. Several of them had already completed three or more “warm-ups” and had to be reminded to relax before the game! Unfortunately the boys went down, 3-2 which is a considerable improvement considering their last outing against Wodonga was a 7-0 loss. The boys played very well and like the U12 Girls, there are some real up and coming players.

Division 2 Women
Sunday was grey and cool for the Div 2 Women’s grand final – which is helpful because they went toe to toe, and ended up with a draw, so another team from the Norths Club was off to the 8 Second “wobble off”. After 5 penalties each, Norths and United were all locked up at 5 all. With the return of Linda Sumbler to the top of the circle, the deadlock was quickly resolved in golden goal with Linda bringing home the win, and winning Best on Ground! A special shoutout to Tash Towne in goals playing an absolute screamer.

Division 1 Women
And now onto the big dance in Div 1. Our Norths women had played strongly throughout the year and had pushed through to the Grand Final to face off against the unbeaten and on form Wodonga ladies team. This was always going to be a very tough run for the team and it started out fast and furious. This tempo continued throughout the game, with both goal keepers playing great games. All tied up at the end of the game, and once again both teams were off to the 8 Second “wobble off” yet again. This would be a tricky one, as both teams had some very high caliber attackers so the goal keepers would need to be awesome. And Georgie was – keeping the Wodonga ladies from rattling the back boards. Eventual result was 4-3 to Norths with Sam Ellis winning Best on Ground.

A very successful weekend for the club, and one that shows real excitement for next year! A special shoutout to the U14 Boys Magpies team that won their grand final on Saturday – the team comprised a number of Norths players. An excellent game with some amazing talent from these young fellas. Solid hockey from the boys and a great win.
