2017 Grand Finals: Div 3 Women Runners Up

The match report from Sharyn Tolley:

Unfortunately CW went down 3-0 in our Grandfinal today. We played a great game but were outclassed by a better team on the day.
No BOGS everyone contributed. Bad luck to Duckie Donna Hemann who was felled by sniper fire in the dying moments of the game. In the process of replacing her on the field Maddog Cate Melville decided to focus all attention on her by taking a hit to the head. Fortunately she sucked it up and played out the game. Duckie has approximately 185 days to repair her hammy😱.

A great effort to even get to the finals.

Rule Update: Lifted ball

Lifted Ball from a Free Hit

Below is copied from FIH rules.
Basically, it is an offence to raise the ball intentionally from a free hit even if not dangerous. Players who continually (more than twice) raise balls from free hits should be penalised.
9.9 Players must not intentionally raise the ball from a hit except
for a shot at goal.
A raised hit must be judged explicitly on whether
or not it is raised intentionally. It is not an offence
to raise the ball unintentionally from a hit, including
a free hit, anywhere on the field unless it is
dangerous. If the ball is raised over an opponent’s
stick or body on the ground, even within the circle,
it is permitted unless judged to be dangerous.
Players are permitted to raise the ball with a flick
or scoop provided it is not dangerous. A flick or
scoop towards an opponent within 5 metres is
considered dangerous. If an opponent is clearly
running into the shot or into the attacker without
attempting to play the ball with their stick, they
should be penalised for dangerous play.

Umpires for the Finals 2017

Subject: Umpires for finals
Finals are just around the corner. As many of our games are HTA’s I need your help to find suitable umpires for our final series. If clubs with their team coaches/captains could provide the following:

1. Div 1 Umpires: A recommendation/grading on umpires that currently umpire Div 1

2. Other grades: A list of your club umpires who you think are suitable to umpire in each grade from Div 2 down to U12’s

All feedback you provide will remain confidential and will assist in having the best umpires for all games in the finals.

Kind Regards’s

Barry Verbunt

New BBQs @ HAW!

To all clubs,

You may have noticed on the weekend, but we now have two fully functional BBQs in the BBQ area at Albury.

The old BBQ has been removed and replaced with two very efficient ParkSafe BBQs in an easy to clean steel surround.

To use – follow the instructions on the front of them, using the buttons on the actual BBQ.

Instructions:

  • Press for 6 seconds – it will turn on and sanitise and pre-heat.
  • It will time out after 20 mins.
  • You also can press and hold to turn off.

If your club uses them please ensure that you bring some cleaning materials so that they are left in the state that you got them in.  If there are any issues with cleanliness, please contact the office.

Thanks to Darryl Lavis of Magpies who did the formwork inside the old structure and installed them for us.

Regards
