Marshall’s Policy

To all Clubs

The Board has with a number of clubs have for some time been concerned about occasional poor spectator and player  behaviour.

This is particularly important when conduct not becoming being a good sport applies toward umpires

We have resolved to adopt similar to other sports a “Marshall” bylaw whereby every match each team will have an adult wearing high vis vest or jacket.

It is crucial that we protect our own so that the game can be enjoyed by everyone.

We are confident taking this action will enhance the experience of all participants and spectators

Please ensure that this is communicated to all at your club and a roster and or plan for your clubs participation is enabled.

The draft policy is available on the web here: http://www.haw.net.au/Information/Rules-Policies and feedback is welcome.

Hockey Albury Wodonga

HAW will provide the first set of high vis vests – two for each of the grounds that we play on.

In Albury and Wodonga they will be kept in the canteen.  For the away grounds, the club who owns the ground will be given two to look after.

Training 2017

Subject: Training

To all Albury based clubs

(note that this will apply to Wodonga once the surface has been upgraded)

Training for many clubs is starting in the next week or two.  Please be aware that all training, as per last year, should be conducted with the goals on the sides on the field.  If you are going on to train and they are at the ends, please move them to the sides.

At this stage there is no requirement to move them back.

When the season starts

·         Norths (AHC1) and Magpies (AHC2) will be responsible for moving the goals to the side of the field

·         Spitfires/Strikers (AHC1) and Wombats (AHC2) will be responsible for moving them back

Club coaches up-skilling opportunity

Dear Clubs

As part of the U14 development program we are running with Ciriello Coaching Academy during February and March we will be offering 18 coaches the opportunity for some personal development to help upskill their coaching tool kits. The development funds for this year will be focusing on development of coaches.  As part of this we have paid for 2 coaches from each club to attend. Each coach will get one session with 3 spots available each training day.

How it will work:

3 spots are to be filled for the Saturday session 4pm-7pm and 3 spots for the Sunday session 9am to 12pm.  The coaches will be required to arrive one hour before and stay for one hour after the session times – so 3.00pm – 8.00pm and 8am to 1pm.  This will be so you can be debriefed on what the session will be about and you can ask questions.  Once the session is in progress you will become a  learner yourself and participate in the drills as a player with no questions until the end. The objective is for you to learn and participate in order to gain knowledge, so you will require your stick and runners as well as notebook and pen.

The session dates are:

Saturday 18th Feb 3.00pm -8.00pm

Sunday 19th Feb  8.00am – 1.00pm

Satuday 25th February 3.00pm -8.00pm

Sunday 26th February 8.00am – 1.00pm

Saturday 4th March 3.00pm -8.00pm

Sunday 5th of March 8.00am – 1.00pm

Please respond to Development@haw.net.au to secure your place.  There is no charge to your club BUT if you book a place and are a no show we reserve the right to invoice your club for the vacancy at the cost of $65 per person.

Rule Change for 2017

Please advise your members of the following:

Rule Change for 2017

Hockey Albury Wodonga will adopt Hockey Victoria following rule changes:

Extend this to include all full field games (except for modified games – e.g. U9). As per FIH Rules a player may stop, receive or play the ball in a controlled manner in any part of the field when the ball is at any height including above the shoulder unless this is dangerous or leads to dangerous play).

2. Tomahawk

The “tomahawk” hit will be permitted in all U12, U14 and U16 grades. The “tomahawk” shall not be permitted in U9 grades.

Kind Regards

Development Opportunity for U13 Players – closing date 2017-02-17

Subject: Development opportunity for u13 players – closing date 17 February

To all clubs – this has been sent to all U14 players who trialled last year for 2017 rep.  Please forward to any other club members you may have that are the correct age group and interested.

Cayte

Dear Junior Player and Parent,

You are invited to an opportunity to help develop your hockey skills.  The Ciriello Coaching academy is offering their services to our association for 15 boys and 15 girls who are 13 years and under to participate in 6 three hour coaching sessions over 3 weekends in February and March before the hockey season commences. This includes goal keepers.  Please attached flyers for enrolment and information on what skills will be taught.

Before you think that this may be too expensive, please consider the following – in order for your child to be able to have access to this sort of quality coaching they would normally have to travel to Melbourne or Canberra to attend a skills development clinic or academy which would cost you not only the cost for the clinic  but you would also be up for fuel and accommodation which would be well over $1,200 for the same 6 sessions.  There is a family discount offer if you have more than one child enrolled. please inquire with Lou before paying and he will give you the discounted price and can arrange for a payment plan if you wish.

Lou and his team of coaches will work with your child to learn correct techniques of the basics, plus higher level skills and game awareness through drills and game based play. The last 2 sessions will involve games against another team to put together everything you have learnt over the previous sessions.  Lou, Bobby, Ben and Chris have a passion to develop regional players to be the best they can be.

We will also be offering Coaches the opportunity to upskill and learn how to improve their own coaching techniques. Your Club will be advised on how they can access this offer.

Don’t delay contact Ciriello coaching and get your name down.

Closing date Friday 17th of Feb
