Finals wrap up – almost

From the pen of Gay Harvey, the Lady of the Norths:

What a great weekend.
What a great way to finish our 2023 Season.
What a great CLUB.
What a Family,
So, so proud of you all.
Players, coaches, managers, marshals and all our wonderful supporters & families.

Our Grand Final quest began on Friday night with our U16 boys v CR United.
Congratulations on a great win. πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ€
Congratulations to Ty Salter, Best on GroundπŸ₯‡

Saturday morning our U14 Girls took the field against Scots. It was a really good game and the girls gave their all. Not their day but they all did us proud. πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€

Our U12 girls were next to line up & play CR United. This game was 0-0 going into 4th quarter, then our little ladies started to play as they have done all Season and slotted in a couple of Goals. It was a β€˜nail biter’ and a really good game to watch. We have some potential there.
Congratulations on a great win πŸ₯‡πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ€
Congratulations to Isabelle Boyd, Best on Ground. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Division 3 ladies were ready to β€˜knock the monkey off their backs’ at 3pm v CR United.
It was a great game to watch and we came away winners πŸ†πŸ₯‡πŸ’™πŸ€
Congratulations ladies, well done.
Congratulations Meg Ross, Best on Ground πŸ₯‡

Sunday morning was a tough one.
Norths v Norths in the Division 2 women.
Unfortunately there can only be one winner.
Both teams gave there all and it was a hard fought contest.
We are so proud of both our teams, our younger players have really come along & stepped up. Our Coaches & experienced players, a big thank you for your support and guidance & patience with our Juniors. It has paid off and the future looks real good.
Congratulations to Blue, πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ€
Congratulations to Linda Sumbler, Best of Ground. πŸ₯‡πŸ’™πŸ€

Division One Women were unlucky to be playing in the middle of the day and it was very hot. Hand towels in buckets of iced water, to try & cool down, frequents interchanges lots of water to hydrate.
It was a hard contested game, you ladies played so well and were unlucky not to come away with a win. It has been a great season.
πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ€

Last game of the day, our Division One men took on CR United. The heart which you boys played with, you left nothing in the tank.
It such a good win, awesome goal Beathy, you all deserved your win πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ€
Congratulations to Justin Ellis, Best on Ground. πŸ₯‡πŸ’™πŸ€

It was so good to see all our supporters in the stands & on the hill. That really helps the players seeing & hearing you cheering for them. It was great to see former players coming along & watching & catching up afterwards.
It is so rewarding to hear members already keen for & talking about 2024. 🩷
It is a great feeling to be surrounded by such an awesome β€˜FAMILY’.
That is the heart of our Club – family.

One more to go.
Our Masters ladies play Wombats tonight at 7pm. We look forward to having you cheer for us tonight.

Love you all.

Editors Note: The Masters ladies won their grand final in convincing fashion. Congratulations to them on their success!

Change rooms at Albury

Hi all,

The Albury Council are giving the benches in the change rooms at Albury a facelift.

What this means is that from Monday to Friday next week (1-5 May) the change rooms will not be available. They will be available for U16s on Friday night.

If you could please advise any of your members who may be using the fields in that time so they can come prepared.

Kind Regards

Cayte Campbell

Norths Hockey Concussion Policy

Most members would be aware of the growing concern in sporting clubs of the risks of long term medical issues following one or more concussion incidents. Hockey Australia (HA) has released a Concussion Policy. The Concussion Policy sets out the guiding principles and provides general advice regarding concussion management in hockey in Australia.

Norths Hockey Club has endorsed the Policy and is committed to protecting the health and welfare of our players. We encourage everyone to read the HA Concussion Policy and access HA’s concussion resources online here

It is important that all head injuries are treated as potential concussions, with appropriate medical treatment and advice sought before the player returns to training or playing. All managers kits have been updated with a copy of procedures to be followed in the event of a head injury.
