2016 Round 2 Wrap up
Great game by Div 1 mens against United 2 all draw.
Div 2 men and Div 3 men had tough games but both went down.
Div 2 blue women won 5 nil. Well done
Div 2 white women had a 1 all draw (great result playing short).
Div 3 women won 5 nil against wombats.
Under 14 and 16 girls unfortunately went down this week.
Div 1 women currently playing and its 2 all against wombats.

Our under 12 girls had a great start to the season today with a 1 all draw. Our goalie Crystal done an amazing job in very hot conditions. 2016 has seen the majority of our 2015 team return plus we have added a few new faces with crystal, Halle & Zaylia who fitted right in. Our goal was scored by Darcee but it was an amazing team effort as it hit 4 other Norths players sticks in the circle before it got to her. Well done girls you all played amazingly

Wodonga Canteen Issues
From HAW:
Wodonga canteen issue To all clubs,
The Wodonga canteen will not be open until further notice.
The reason for this is an infestation of termites in the canteen building and we are unable to clean adequately to meet health and safety standards.
We realise that this will inconvenience clubs, and our apologies but there is little we can do until the pest man can eradicate the live termites.
There is a water bubbler outside the compound closer to the BMX track, and we have requested that Wodonga Council fix the tap/bubbler on the north side of the canteen building so that there is water available inside also.
All clubs should make sure that their managers know so they can take ice with them.
We will keep you posted

2016 Round 2 Volunteer Umpires needed!

Good morning all,
We have 8 games to do this weekend.
Could we please remind everyone, without umpires there is no game and most people do there best and if we could hold off on any abuse.
That would be appreciated.
Friday night 6.30pm Grd 1 U16 boys game – 1 umpire from C Women please
Saturday 9.45am Wod U14 girls our game – 1 umpire from B White please
Saturday 2pm Grd 2 CM game – 1 umpire from C Men please
Sunday 10.30am Grd 1 B men (our game) – 1 umpire from A Men please
Sunday 10.30am Grd 2 B Men – 1 umpire from A Women please
Sunday 12pm Grd 2 B women (our Blue team game) – 1 umpire from B Men please
Sunday 1.30pm Grd 1 AW (Falcons v Wodonga) – 1 umpire from B Blue please
Sunday 4.30pm Grd 2 AW (United v Magpies) – 1 umpire from A Men please
We have Jessica Hooper doing our U12 girls at 12.25pm on Saturday.
Georgie Pearson is doing 2 Division 3 women’s games on Saturday.
We need to have umpires please at these games, if there is no response when we put it up on Face Book & Website, I need names from coaches/managers please.
Le-Vene and Angus could we please put this up with a heading calling for volunteers. If they could please let me know asap if they are willing to do a game, otherwise we will have to nominate someone from the teams in bold.

2016 HAW Australian First Aid
From the HAW Office:
To all clubs,
As requested at the last P&S I have organised Australian First Aid to come to us to run their three hour “First Aid Fast” course on Thursday 21 April from 6.30 in the Albury Clubrooms.
Costs are: Adult $50.00 Family (2 Adults and 2 Kids 12-16) $150.00
Numbers need to be confirmed as the trainer will be coming from Melbourne. Please reply to the office with DEFINITE numbers by 12 April.
The course will focus on key principles of First Aid, and will be delivered in approximately 3 hours. Everyone enrolled will be given hands on training. First Aid Fast is all about totally flexibility with learning, ensuring the community feels empowered with better access to life saving skills and information via our unique technologies. Further details are on the attached flyer.
As part of the course Australian First Aid will be bringing 4 x A15 Defibrillators which will be available at a never to be repeated price of $1995.00 including a $300 wall mount cabinet, all valued at $2550.00. This will be strictly first in first served, and I can take payment on the night. Brochure attached.

2016 HAW Grounds

Hi all,
A request to all clubs – can you please send to managers to remind their players (thanks)
At the end of your game can you please ensure that there is no litter left in or around your dugout. There is a bin placed in each dugout and large bins around the grounds. If the litter could be put in there it would be much appreciated. It will make my job much easier (and give me more time to deal with other things that you need me to do)

2016 Opening Round Photos and Results
It was a very warm weekend for the winter sport of hockey and quite a few of the valiant Norths players lamented this fact. First round as well and it was a tough day at the office for all players.
First off the cards Sunday morning the B Grade Men and B Grade Women (White) played in Albury.
The White team had a solid win, the young members of the team playing well and pushing Beechworth hard and getting up.
The B Grade Men didn’t fare as well against United. The effort was there, but the results were elusive. They came second on the day:
B Men defending yet another short corner – Will on the lead from the goals, followed by Beau. Brandon Purcell, Mark Hooper and Yours Truly huddling in the goals
Shooting over to Wodonga for the B Grade Women (Blue)’s game against Wodonga in the sandpit. The Blue girls came out cracking, pushing Wodonga on to the back foot very quickly, while short of players. The cavalry arrived from the White team and for a while we had a very fluid forward line (i.e. no-one knew where they were!) We sorted it out eventually and broke the ice. Some solid play in the second half and the girls trotted off the field 4 – 1 winners:
B Grade Women Blue, with kids and coach. Hot, tired and sweaty but happy!
Back to the Albury Hockey Centre and the A Grade girls were cutting loose on the field. A very young team combined with a few old soldiers and they had a successful campaign winning 3-1

The final match up was Magpies and the A Grade Men. A hard fought game, 3-2 down at half time the boys pushed very hard in the second half. Unfortunately fate was unkind and the men went down 5-4 in a great game.
