HI all
The season is almost here. Still awaiting the draw for the first 4 weeks which will hopefully be out on Thursday.
This year each team nominated will have to provide 2 (up to 4) umpires, with each junior teams also having an umpire mentor . As there will be many new to umpiring, this will take a few weeks to bed down. Initially we will require some of last year’s umpires to cover the U16 games on Friday nights until we have a core of suitable umpires.
To start off there is a: senior umpires meeting Thursday 31/3/16 @ 6.30pm HAW club rooms
: junior umpires meeting Saturday 02/4/16 @10.00am HAW club rooms
It is going to take a few weeks to get the new umpires up and running. We will require many of last year’s umpires to help out during this period. At the end of the day, our aim is to have a core of umpires for the future and thus remove HTA’s.
Thanks

Please see the Forms page of this site for updates. I have added the docx copy of the President’s Report for 2015 and also the minutes of the 2016 AGM.
Any questions or comments should be directed to the relevant committee member.
Norths Hockey Club had a successful season in 2015 with most teams reaching the first or second round of finals and the Veterans Women taking out their Premiership.
My thanks to Daniel and Belinda Burke from Northside Hotel for their continued Sponsorship and support.
My thanks to the Committee who volunteer and give their time every week in helping to run our Club.
My thanks to all members of the Club who play and support us in many other ways and my thanks to all those parents who make sure juniors are at games, training and in uniform
The success of a Club is not only measured in the number of teams to reach finals but also in the participation and enjoyment of the members of its Club.
We had terrific Junior teams last year and look forward to most of them returning in 2016. We are still in the process of rebuilding junior teams. With most other sports undertaking recruitment of juniors it is an ongoing campaign to entice them into hockey, especially when facing the stiff competition of Soccer and Football.
However with Hook Into Hockey, Under 9’s and Hockey Victoria taking their Hockey Road Show into schools we feel that we are making good inroads.
Our Ladies Division One and Two teams were flushed with numbers in 2015. Division Three Ladies had two teams and at times when numbers were low it was great to see members filling in for teams that were short. Several Under 16 girls had games in Division Three and also at times filled in for Division Two which gave them some experience in a higher grade and we will look forward to them playing in those higher grades in 2016.
Our Men’s teams consisted of some very talented players who valiantly played each weekend even though they were short at times. I am hopeful that we can fill all three sides in 2016 with players able to fill into teams when they are short.
Our Junior and Senior Presentation nights were very successful as were our Pink Day, Junior Club Day and Pie Drive. Thank you to all those that supported these functions and we hope to expand on these and commit to some more fundraising ventures in 2016.
With umpiring for 2016, each team will be required to nominate 2 umpires and this will ensure that we are not relying on the same people each weekend to fill umpiring commitments.
My hope for 2016 is to continue expanding our Juniors, for all teams to support each other and, for all members to help build a strong Club.
