NC Eagles Coaching Clinic

Good Morning All,

Please find below the invitation from NC Eagles for a goal keeping clinic held later this year. For all communications and information, please contact Colin.

Dear Presidents/ Club Contacts

North Canberra Eagles have secured the services of current Australian representative goalkeeper, Rachael Lynch, to run a goalkeeping clinic open to all interested ACT goalkeepers on 20 August 2018 from 3-7 PM.

Providing we collectively support this initiative and can demonstrate there is sufficient demand, I’m happy to volunteer North Canberra Eagles to take on coordination of these guest coaching clinics for all our goalkeepers as an ongoing project to benefit of all those in the wider ACT Hockey community.  At this stage another session is being planned as a follow up in March/April next year and ideally we’d like to run 2 or 3 sessions a year.

The costs to participants is likely to fall somewhere around the $80-100 mark which is intended to cover only our direct costs in bringing Rachael to Canberra and hiring the field.    For this clinic places are limited to 30 with Rachel working with smaller groups of about 6 at any one time.  The program is open to anyone at any level (women, men, juniors).  If oversubscribed I will prioritise women, and juniors first with the intention to run a clinic aimed at men (possibly with another trainer) at another time.  I’ll prioritise anyone that misses out for the next program.  First in best dressed for places.

I would be grateful if you would spread the word in your club that we are running this program and ask your goalkeepers who are interested in participating if they could they please RSVP to me at colin_trinder@netspeed.com.au with their full name, club, grade and contact details (email and phone) by 10 August.  I’ll provide details of the venue and payment options at a later date.  Of course I would certainly also welcome any ideas or suggestions you might have.

You may also wish to view Rachael’s online coaching program at https://www.rachaellynch.com.au/stomp-goalkeeping/

Kind regards

Colin Trinder

U14 Boys Draw alteration

U14 boys
Dear Clubs,
This week I am altering the draw to accomodate an 8th side into the U14s draw.
The new side will be known as Magpies Black.
This will see the bye now being abolished and the team with the bye playing Magpies Black.
As for the first 3 rds how that is accomodated for the sides is to be decided and I will be in touch with those clubs affected.
This should be the last of any changes and once rd 4 is played no other teams can enter the competition.
Any questions please let me know. Thank you.

Kind Regards

Deb Lawrence

Level 1 Coaching Course

Hey all,

Just a reminder to ask your coaches to consider this course, which is an important part of our strategic plan to raise the profile of hockey in our region. As of this morning, only 4 (four) participants had signed up. This is massively disappointing, and does not tally with the verbal feedback I have been receiving.
This is not enough people to justify running the course. Obviously the last thing we want to do is cancel the course, but unless the numbers pick up over the next week, say, that’s probably going to be the move we have to make.
I would also like to re-iterate the call that was made by the clubs last year that all our coaches need to be qualified at the appropriate level going forward. We are doing all that we can to facilitate this by hosting this course locally rather than asking our coaches to travel to Melbourne.
Hopefully we can boost those numbers in the next few days!
Many thanks,
Doug.

Regards

2018 Marshals

To all clubs,

Just a reminder to have your marshals organised for the first round.  A big thanks to “Mr Sparkie” who has continued to sponsor the vests for us.

The Marshalls will be in use for the 2018 season from round 1.  Please remember to organise a person for each game that your club is participating in.

The vests will be with:

  • Albury – at the canteen
  • Wodonga – at the canteen (or hanging in the umpires dugout)
  • Corowa – with United
  • Wangaratta – with Wangaratta
  • Beechworth – with Beechworth

Please ensure that when the game is finished that they immediately go back to where they came from for the next team to use.

Remember that the Marshals must:

  • be 18 years of age or older;
  • wear the vest as this readily identifies them as your Marshall;
  • walk around the field used throughout the match and ensure they are clearly visible to Spectators, and are in an appropriate spot for monitoring off-field incidents and behaviour;
  • the Marshall must, if it is safe to do so, remind spectators  of their obligation to comply with the HAW Code of Behaviour and issue any reasonable direction
  • If any spectator fails to comply with the Marshalls reasonable directions, the Marshal should contact their Club for further assistance. If required the Club official representative is to contact the police or relevant emergency services for support;
  • not engage in any verbal or physical altercations;
  • not consume alcohol or smoke while acting as a Marshall;
  • not, unless it is safe to do so, approach opposition Spectators  behaving inappropriately and must instead approach the opposition Marshall to resolve any issues.

Further details are in the policy on the HAW web

If there are issues then the appropriate form on the web is to be filled in and sent to admin@haw.net.au (or put in the results box)

The form to report any issues (which ideally will not be needed) can be located at http://www.haw.net.au/Information/Rules-Policies
