Dear players

Australian Kookaburra Chris Ciriello and his coaching team are wanting to run several coaching clinics for all junior and senior players and coaches

The dates set are Sat 3rd of December and Sunday 4th Dec.

Up to 4 sessions are being offered

Saturday 3rd 1.30pm to 3.30pm

4.00pm to 6.00pm

Sunday 4th  8.00am to 10am

10.30am to 12.30pm

 

Each session can cater for up to 30 players including 4 goal keepers. With 10 players per coach

 

The cost per player is $95.00 for the 2 hour session with Chris Ciriello.

 

For new younger players we can offer a 1 hour session at $45 per player.

 

Goal keeping Coaching is also part of our Coaching Academy, please let me know how many Goalies that may be interested again Juniors and Seniors

We like to keep the Goalie groups to a max of 4 per session in their age groups. Each Goal Keeper will be given a 5 page document from the Coaching Academy

 

In 2015 Chris was rated by FIH in the top 5 players in World. Chris’s vision has been to give back to the country kids across the state which the Academy has been doing since February this year, we are so proud that Boys and Girls  from the country that have made state sides that attended our development coaching clinics.

 

Time is short as Chris is being booked up fast in other areas. We need to know numbers by 6pm Friday 18th November 2016

 

We need at least 60 people in order for this clinic to go ahead

Vale Owen Jennings

It is with great sadness I report that Owen Jennings passed away yesterday of a heart attack.

Owen was a respected player and coach of both Albury City Hockey Club and Norths Hockey Club. Many of our members were coached by, or played with Owen.

We offer our condolences to his family and share their grief with this sad loss.

Grants and Sponsorship Jobs

Subject: Grants and sponsorship jobs

Hi all,

As has often been noted in the past by individuals, clubs and the BOM, HAW would benefit from grant applications and some local Sponsorship of our sport.  We have tried a number of avenues in the past to attract grants and sponsorship, some of which have been moderately successful.

At a recent Board meeting it was decided that we would approach this differently and offer an opportunity to someone in our hockey community, who displays high level writing skills and an aptitude for marketing.  This person will be tasked with securing funding via government grants programs or local businesses.

HAW will provide direction in how to go about finding and applying  for grants and provide you with the necessary details to complete the grant applications.  You would need to provide a high quality document that supports the requirements of the grant application.

Our second avenue to secure sponsorship for HAW would be to look for a person who may have connections with local businesses and an aptitude in marketing to approach potential sponsors with an offer regarding Sponsorship on our behalf.  HAW would supply the successful person with a package of information to assist you to sell our attributes to a potential sponsor.

By way of remuneration for your efforts HAW will provide you 10% of any funding/sponsorship you are to secure for the Association. For the right person this opportunity may provide or supplement an income and enable you to work your own hours.

2016 Grand Final Results – Updates!

There was one final match in the Grand Finals – the Masters Women. Played last night under cool conditions once again Norths were dominant winning 2-0!

2016 Grand Final Results!

What an amazing weekend for finals!

Div 3 Men contested them first, taking on Beechworth and coming away with a 3-1 victory. The icing on the cake was Pete Evans winning Best on Ground.

Sunday was the big day, with Division 1 Women and Division 2 Blue Women taking on United.

Div 2 Blue started off very strongly and scored early in the game. A second goal shortly thereafter and United replied with a penalty corner conversion. We went into the half time oranges break 2-1 up.

Two more goals in the second half and United made another penalty corner conversion. We held out several others and the last 5 minutes of the game became frenetic as United pulled out all the stops to attack and try to get more corners. Sam Ellis stopped a big shot and Georgie Pearson in goals blocked another. As the clock wound down towards the final hooter United began to slow and Norths Blue turned the heat back up – driving into attack again and again. The end score was 4-2.

Congratulations to Sam Ellis – Best on Ground to go with her Best and Fairest win:

Division 1 Women up after the Div 1 Men played and Norths rolled out looking confident. The game bounced backwards and forwards, but Norths continued and relentless attacking pushed United into doing some questionable defensive moves – ultimately being punished with goals being scored. Norths won the game emphatically 3-0

From the Coach Danny Hicks: “It was a great team effort and everyone stepped up.”

2016 Festival of Hockey

The International Festival of Hockey, Melbourne & Bendigo will be held on 23 – 30 November 2016.  This world class event will see Australia’s home favourites, the iconic Kookaburras and Hockeyroos, take on some of their biggest international rivals, India, Malaysia and New Zealand.

Hot off the back of their Olympic Games campaign, the Australian men’s team – the Kookaburras – host India, Malaysia and New Zealand in a four nations competition in Melbourne before taking on India in two further test matches in Bendigo.

Also playing in Australia for the first time since the Olympics, the Hockeyroos – the women’s team – go head-to-head against India in three test matches in Melbourne.

Whether you’re a hockey fanatic or are simply looking for a great day out with a difference, the International Festival of Hockey is a must-do event this summer.

 

Hockey Victoria are also looking for volunteers to assist with the event, so if you want to get up close with some hockey stars, here is your opportunity.
